Daisey Cotterill Founder of AnyGirl Netball

Our Story

When I founded AnyGirl Netball in 2021 my intention was to create a fun and accessible weekly session for all girls within Sandwell. I wanted to create a safe space for girls to be seen, heard and empowered.

When I discovered Netball at the age of 11 I was a shy, quiet year 7 student, who lacked confidence. Within a very short period of time I became part of a netball team. This club provided role models to girls from one of the most deprived areas within the country, providing a purpose to girls with no real focus in life. Very quickly the coaches became family to all of us and it was this support and trust we developed that made us unbeatable.

My team from a deprived area reached the England Netball Club and School finals, something that doesn’t happen very often. The people around you provide you with the confidence to achieve anything, I know this because that’s how my team achieved their success. This team were and still are family, this is why I founded AnyGirl Netball, because I know the importance of using sport to unlock greatness in young people.

Our Mission

Currently, Netball is the most played female dominated sport in the UK and many girls and young women within areas of deprivation are unable to access the sport for a variety of reasons. We hope to correct this and ensure that they are able to access Netball with the important wraparound support needed for them to be successful in life.

We hope to provide a space for girls and young women to enjoy Netball, but also express themselves, work out who they are and who they wish to become.

We believe that by providing them with the necessary tools and guidance, we can help them navigate life and build their career skills. Our mission is to create a supportive community that fosters growth and development for the next generation of female leaders.
